One of my favorite projects during my apprenticeship. There was over a hundred interior and exterior windows and doors built for this traditional home for Bulyeong Temple near Uljin, South Korea. It took over a week to build all the pieces off-site and 3 days of on-site fitting to complete the project. All of the exterior windows and doors were built to be hinged open and give the home full exposure to the surrounding landscape. There are three layers that make up the exterior windows and doors; the outer is glass, the middle is paper and the inside is a screen material. The interior walls are designed with lattice at the top to keep the air circulating in the hot and humid Korean summers.
