This treasure box was a very challenging box to construct and to finish. I wanted to make the box look as if it were buried under a fast moving, sandy river. The design was to use only four pieces of Cherry wood, even though a box has six sides. The bottom was shaped to match the inside curves and set in the walls of the box. I shaped the sides and the top and placed the box in a blasting machine filled with coarse walnut shells. The finish is several coats of shellac and then I polished the raised surfaces with bees wax.
